once, when i was around 8 years old, i wanted to pick sticks off a tree. i wasn't a good climber, and the easily broken sticks were high off the tree, but the base of one bendable branch was reachable for most of the class. i got two girls to pull the tree down for me, and i gladly tore off a few sticks.

then they let go of the branch.

my left cheek was torn out, entirely, and i had to get stitches. the first thing i remember post-tree was getting some atlantis-themed legos, which i have since lost.

i regularly brought up the incident, and, years later, spoke to my little sister about it.

she had (allegedly) planned the whole thing.
