I actually know the story behind that one: She wasn't the kid's biological mother. The kid was the father's bastard who was adopted (legally or not we don't know) and they never told the kid - he found out on his own as an adult.

This resulted in the mom feeling loads of resentment raising a kid who wasn't her own. She took a lot of her anger and humiliation out on the kid rather than, you know, the cheating husband who deserved it.

Fucked up story. I'll be getting more stories from this person up soon.
